The moment you set foot on Bokissa Eco Island you smile to yourself. As you survey the lush green rainforest overhanging the wide open beach you wonder why it took you your whole life to find this place. Your reverie is politely interrupted by a smiling staff member offering you a complimentary arrival cocktail. Sounds like a good idea, why not.
As one
of our friendly Ni-van staff carefully takes your luggage
to your faré you find yourself a deckchair by the pool.
You watch little blue-tailed skinks playing in the sun and
try to decide whether to go on a tour of the island or relax
in a hammock by the beach.
Plenty of time for relaxing later, you wish to get better acquainted with what the island has to offer you. The tour begins with the smiling guide introducing themself as the general manager of Bokissa. You introduce yourself and with the so-called formalities overwith you are escorted to the trail through the native rainforest.
Moving
on through the rainforest your guide, with whom you are now
on a first name basis, tells you that Bokissa guests have
exclusive use of the island's 175 acres of unspoiled tropical
rainforest and palm fringed beaches. Furthermore, as there
is a preset maximum of 36 guests on the island at any time,
there is plenty of privacy for those who wish it.
Returning back to the resort proper you are shown the Kayaks and dugout canoes, waiting for you to take for a free spin. Fellow guests are enjoying 'Vanuatu time' by the pool as one of the kitchen staff plays a short rhythm on an ornately carved drum. This 'tam tam' indicates meal time.
After
a superb buffet lunch you return to your faré. A Faré
is a separate bungalow, learn more about our farés
on the facilities page. After
unpacking you step out of your room straight onto the beach,
ready for some snorkelling. Contrary to popular belief, sandy
beaches are uncommon in Vanuatu, but rest assured that each
and every faré at Bokissa has absolute beach frontage.
How do you explain the atmosphere that makes Bokissa so special. Most likely it is the Outer Island concept. We seek to avoid numbers tourism. Bokissa offers privacy and comfort for divers and non-divers alike. Our guests can relax, dive, explore and enjoy everything that the Sanma province has to offer.
